The UFC is finalizing a featherweight fight.
Two halves of a targeted matchup, Darren Elkins and Nate Landwehr will square off May 16, if all goes according to the promotion’s plans.
Wednesday, multiple people with knowledge of the situation informed MMA Junkie of the targeted booking. They asked to remain anonymous since the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.
The event takes place at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Fla. The card is expected to air on ESPN and stream on ESPN+.
Team Alpha Male’s Elkins (24-8 MMA, 14-7 UFC) will look to end his three-fight skid. The unsuccessful stretch of fights comes after Elkins won six straight from 2015-18. Elkins most recently competed this past July and lost a unanimous decision to Ryan Hall.
Also looking to reenter the win column, Landwehr (13-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) will attempt to bounce back from a knockout loss in his UFC debut. A highly-touted debutant, Landwehr was finished by fellow promotional newcomer Herbert Burns in January.
With the addition, here’s the current UFC lineup for May 16:
Walt Harris vs. Alistair Overeem Eryk Anders vs. Krzysztof Jotko Anthony Hernandez vs. Kevin Holland Marlon Vera vs. Song Yadong Edson Barboza vs. Dan Ige Jared Gordon vs. Sean Woodson Darren Elkins vs. Nate Landwehr
